EKLA designed a series of roof gardens for a cooperative apartment complex.
The Client wished to replicate the communal quality of a former, built-in garden. The development of this large-scale installation as a rooftop park included the custom design of a modular system of site furniture components that, when assembled, maximized the distribution of planter box load across the 27,500 square-foot roof structure. Modular furnishings included freestanding pergolas whose anchors were integrated with the box bearing systems.
Fireproofing materials were installed as planter box veneers to complement cast-stone pavers. Low voltage up lighting was installed within the pergola framing.
