EKLA developed this master site plan of a waterfront resort condominium project proposed for land containing a coastal conservation area. Our goal was to “float” the resort within an expanded conservation zone and limit the impact of development construction on the site’s recovery. Accordingly, our approach aimed to integrate pedestrian and vehicular circulation with natural systems retention.
We designed the layout of condominium units around a system of paths, boardwalks and overlook areas fringing the conservation setback; and proposed a run-off management system to create and sustain a bird fly-way through portions of the development, massing vagetation to extend the coastal conservation easement into the resort complex itself.
