Sonia Olivia Muhammad

Participatory Planner/ Strategist

MSUP&PD

Sonia Olivia Muhammad is EKLA’s participatory design planner and strategist, responsible for formulating and leading user engagement during the project development process. She supports the studio at multiple project phases, using her background in research analysis, communications and visualization to help uncover the cultural, psychological and wellness bases of client aspirations and end user needs. She brings to this work a deep interest in biophilia and expertise in organizing public events exploring this topic.

Before joining EKLA, she designed and executed a case study appraising the emotional and restorative impact of an Atlanta Beltline park. The case study incorporated virtual reality as a communicative design medium between urban designers and marginalized communities. Through this medium she brought a qualitative approach to this exercise in public engagement and project planning research.
